I am Michael Dear, of The Law Office of Michael L. Dear, PLLC. I am a former felony, misdemeanor and juvenile prosecutor and I personally handle all criminal defense cases at our firm.

We offer a client-centered approach to your defense. If you call my office you will speak with me. If I am not in the office when you call, I will return your call within 24 hours. It is my goal that you remain informed throughout the case. My commitment to you is that no matter the facts of your case, I will always be prepared so that surprises are minimized and we are ready to meet the State’s case.

The State is prosecuting you, but that doesn’t mean we cannot command the case.

If your case is one that requires emergency attention, I will work on your emergency until it is resolved.

Fighting a criminal charge is a stressful and sometimes scary event in an individual’s life. Chances are you have little or no experience navigating the criminal justice system. I will spend as much time as is necessary to make sure you understand what is happening in your case. My job is not only to defend you to the best of my ability, but also to educate you as we resolve your case. It is my experience that my clients are most comfortable when they simply understand what is happening and are well informed so there are no surprises. It is important to me that your mind is at ease.

Whether you are charged with a DUI, a drug crime, a crime of violence or something else, I will help you understand what the state must prove to convict you. I will evaluate the state’s evidence against you and I will collect evidence in your defense. We will meet prior to all court appearances and I will explain what is happening in your case.

It is important to meet early on and devise a case strategy no matter what the charge. Together we will evaluate your goals and determine what our ultimate goal for your case will be.

In addition to defending your criminal case, I can also help you to expunge or seal your criminal history, file bond motions on your behalf, move to clear holds such as Nebbia holds, defend against restitution claims, and represent you in violation of probation cases. If you contact me prior to first appearance I will attend first appearance with you and make any necessary probable cause argument, as well as argue for a reasonable bond so that you can post bond and be released as soon as possible.
